Pacific Edge Hotel on Laguna Beach: Guest Testimonials
"Pacific Edge Water"
Hotels.comThe hotel is perfect for a quick get away - even if you live in orange county like myself - nothing says luxury more than falling asleep to the soft sound of waves crashing below your hotel room sliding glass door. It was wonderful.
"Don't judge a book by it's cover…"
Looks can be deceiving and a quick look from the street and you may not think much of the Pacific Edge Hotel. And honestly, the physical buildibg itself itsnt much to look at. But once you enter your room, absorb the brightly colored walls and furniture and look out the large sliding glass door on to the beautiful Pacific Ocean, any worries about what the building looks like go out the window...somewhat literally! My room wasn't beach-front, it was beach-ON...waves crashing on the rocks below my balcony. Gorgeous sunsets over Catalina off the balcony...and 'roll out of bed access' to the sand for an early morning stroll down the beach to start the day. Stay here!!....but reserve judgement until you checkin to your room and open that sliding glass door.
"JUST WHAT I NEEDED…"
After being stranded in California due to Hurricane Irene, I decided to rent a car and drive to Laguna Beach for two days. The Art Festival was in full swing, and I was fortunate enough to book the Pacific Edge with an amazing ocean view ....... the room was simple, modern & clean with a touch of the 60's style. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. The surrounding restaurants located on the beach were recommended by the hotel staff, and the food was fresh. This was a no fuss, uncomplicated and wonderful impromptu mini-vacation.
"Fabulous Hotel!"
We booked a room here on a whim, hoping to have an impromptu vacation. It was a very good choice! The staff is friendly, helpful and very clear about everything. The room was clean and the bedding was very comfortable! We could see the beach from our window and there was a big jacuzzi and pool. There were some delicious restaurants nearby and a clean beach to go to. If you're looking for a sleepy little beach village, then this is your place. I also recommend going to "The Stand" which is only a couple blocks away. It's a great place to get any meal or a snack before heading down to the ocean! Enjoy your stay! :)
"Ocean Front means ocean front!"
Trip AdvisorWhen I get a room at a hotel it is all about the comfort of the bed and the cleanliness of the bathroom. This room passed my critic with flying colors. The room overall is wonderful. Some dated pieces like the bathroom vanity and cheap lamps. I stayed in an oceanfront room in the Reef section of the hotel. This room is truly oceanfront. The patio/deck had two yellow adirondack chairs and lots of space to get around. My view from the patio was of the whole crescent beach of Laguna! Beautiful during the day and at night. I fell asleep and woke up to the sound and smells of the ocean!”
"Updated Rooms, Better than Expected"
After seeing some 2.5 and 3 star reviews, I was anticipating how my stay at Pacific Edge would compare to them. I was very pleasantly surprised find out that everything about my visit would exceed those older reviews. The lobby was clean, modern, and the staff were very well trained in customer service. The room was updated with modern colors, bathroom features, and art. It was a safe and comfortable stay. I would recommend staying at Pacific Edge if travelling to the Laguna Beach area.
"Love this place!"
Our room was overlooking the beach and when I say "overlooking", it was OVER the beach. You are literally over the beach with amazing views. Room was perfectly clean, beds were soft, and just a great experience. We just booked our 3rd visit and look forward to it for our 18th anniversary. We spent hours setting on the balcony watching the surfers and dolphins. This is my favorite motel in CA.
The motel is conveniently located near several wonderful restaurants, ice cream places, and of course the beach is just outside the door.
"Funky Beachcombers' Hotel"
This could be one of the coolest stays on PCH.
"Charmed – Will Return"
I was placed here after bidding on Priceline and didn't know what to expect. Front desk was nicer than most 5 stars i've stayed at. The property seems to be a converted motel but it's done well, with beachy touches. The beds were very comfy and they've updated the rooms quite a bit from what they must have been back in the day. Inviting and comfortable. I arrived late enough that I could street park at the meters, which are free until 8am. The beach is the backyards, and it's a nice stretch. Will definitely return for an LA getaway. Free internet is a bonus.
"It's Very Laguna Beach"
I love the beachy funkiness, the surprise ocean views around so many corners, the tidepools, the outdoor restaurants, the surfers. Yes, there are some big expensive hotels with spas south of town, but Pacific Edge captures the essence of Laguna Beach.

DeanMy family and friends stayed at the hotel during the the Las Vegas's Spring Break. Loved the Village Deluxe with the kitchen and the 3rd floor view (Room #19). Awesome place and planning to go back. I have not stopped recommending the place since I have been back in Las Vegas. See you next year.
"Wonderful Time!"
Expedia.com - July 14, 2011Great place to stay! Very centrally located. Within walking distance of the Laguna village. Our room faced the highway, but was very very clean and nicely decorated. The staff was extremely pleasant and went out of their way to accomodate us. I would stay there again, but next time, I want to stay in one of the rooms facing the ocean!
Area recommendations: Laguna Beach was very nice, and trendy.
"Fantastic!"
Trip Advisor - June 22, 2011My husband and I just came home from Laguna Beach. The Pacific Edge Hotel was fantastic! We stayed in a beach front room. There is nothing like waking up and falling asleep to the sound of the waves crashing right outside your door. The room was clean and very comfortable. The Beach House Restaurant was also great...try the granola crusted french toast! I heard the parking was a little on the expensive side, but the majority of the restaurants and shopping are within walking distance. We will definitely be staying here again!
Room Tip: Definitely spring for the oceanfront room
"Captures Laguna's Surf Culture"
Trip Advisor - June 13, 2011The first thing I noticed when checking in was that they were selling copies of the iconic surf film "Endless Summer" in the lobby. And that is the vibe this casual-friendly hotel creates. The location could not be better--right in the middle of town, but on the beach side of Pacific Coast Highway. Once you park your car, you can walk everywhere you need to go from the hotel or take once of Laguna's local shuttle buses.
We were enjoying their special (that is good through the end of 2011) of $100 credit to use on your room rate or other hotel services if you book your room the week of your birthday (you have to show your ID at check-in). So that helped make our stay extra affordable.
The room we had was spacious and comfortable, simply decorated with sunny colors and a kitchenette (however if you plan on doing any cooking—you need to bring pot/pan with you—even paper towels were not to be found). The bathroom was small but had good towels and bath products. The best part of the room however was the large patio with a great view of the ocean and the best place to enjoy the bottle of wine they provided along with some appetizers we picked up at a local wine/shop deli.
The Beach House restaurant is located next to the hotel and provides all of their room service options. It's good but a bit pricey--I think there are other better options close by like the Orange Inn for a healthy breakfast and lunch, Cafe Zinc if you want to walk into town and has great vegetarian options, the Cliff if you want a romantic setting with great value and good food, and the Cottage which has great homestyle food.
This property was the former Vacation Village hotel, which was always the cheapest place to stay in Laguna. The Joie de Vive group has nicely upgraded and remodeled the hotel, which features two pools (one in shade, one in sun) and a large spa pool. The beach access is easy with attendants to provide loungers and towels.
The Pacific Edge is not for you if you only like luxury properties. But if you want a comfortable, beachy atmosphere with a perfect location and great value, you couldn't do better than the Pacific Edge.
Room Tip: Get an upper room for a patio with ocean views

"We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Pacific Edge and will definitely be back!"
Trip Advisor - June 7, 2011My husband and I enjoyed our 1st wedding anniversary at Pacific Edge and the ocean view from our deck was absolutely breathtaking! The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful! The hotel is centrally located to all the shops and restaurants in the area and there is valet parking readily available 24 hours a day for your convenience. We are already planning our second trip to Pacific Edge!
"Can't get any closer to the waves!!!!"
Expedia.com - May 16, 2011The beachfront room is defenetely worth paying more. If anybody plans to go there, just pay the extra for the room. Out on the balcony, and the waves are right there, I've really never stayed anywhere so close to the beach!!!! Hotel clean, staff great (asked for microwave and got it right away), walking distance to downtown....
"Location, Location,Location"
Trip Advisor - May 14, 2011This was our first trip to the hotel. We were right on the beach and the view was spectacular. The peacefulness of the room/hotel made for a tranquil weekend. The private beach was ideal. The boutique resort offered superb service and the quaint atmosphere was ideal. We walked to dinner and had breakfast/coffee at the bungalow next door. They offer a special to the local gym which made for the complete getaway for us..not that the run on beach could be beat. We highly recommend the hotel - great location, service and ambience all rolled into one!
Room Tip: The best views are right on the water! Ocean front
"Fantastic View of the Ocean & Beautiful Sunsets in a Cool & Casual Setting"
Trip Advisor - April 27, 2011Stayed here for a weekend getaway and had a very nice relaxing time. Our room faced the ocean and the sound of the water was just so relaxing. Staff was friendly and casual which fit the setting. Had lots of interactions with valet drivers who were always very pleasant.
On arrival the room was missing towels and the phone didn't work. Then the next day we called for an iron and board and was told they are standard in the room, yet ther was none. Other than those small issues everything was wonderful.
Hotel is close to town and within walking distance which is great at night.
Recommend this hotel!
Room Tip: Room on high floor if ocean facing
"Laguna Beach Paradise"
Expedia.com - April 8, 2011If you want an unpretentious getaway to the beach, this is the place. I had the best time here. You can walk to just about everything in Laguna Beach from the hotel plus you are a stone's throw away from the beach.
Area recommendations: Laguna Beach, Dana Point
I had a 5 star experience with this hotel. If I ever visit Laguna Beach again I will without a doubt return here for my stay.
The customer service was amazing. You don't find customer service like this very often. One employee really stood out to me. Her name was Caroline and she was the person that checked me in. She seemed genuinely sweet. I was in my room for about 10 minutes when my room phone rang. It was Caroline checking to make sure my room was okay with me. I informed her that I LOVED my room! It was super cute. Some of the walls are painted fun, vibrant colors and beachy art was hung up throughout the room. On my bed was a "pillow menu". If you don't like the pillows on your bed you can choose the type that best suites you (firm, down, etc.) and they will be delivered to your room
Something that lit up the smile on my face was their coffee machine in the room. It was not the typical cheap looking non-brand pot most hotels put in your room. It was a Keurig. A KEURIG!!!!!!! Do you know what that is? They are awesome machines that make one cup at a time of a variety of great coffees. I'm not going to waste your time raving about Keurig, but if you know what they are, you know how awesome it would be to find one in your hotel room.
This hotel is on the beach, so you are just seconds from laying on the sand and chilling out. It was not warm enough to whip out the 2 piece when I visited (visit was in February) but it didn't stop me from walking along the water. My room was only $109 a night and I had a cool private balcony with chairs and a little table. Great to drink a cup of coffee and soak up a little sun after you wake up.
I would recommend Pacific Edge to anyone looking for a decently priced beach front hotel.
"The recent re-model makes it all the more beautiful and fun!"
Trip Advisor - February 23, 2011Wonderful room right over the waves! Friendly staff! Quiet and clean—a great get away for a romantic weekend! Ask for anything - they are more than happy to oblige to your every whim.
"Perfect on the beach getaway."
Trip Advisor - January 28, 2011I was lucky enough to spend a few nights at this newly remodeled hotel. The staff was friendly , helpful and knowledgeable. My room was the ocean front with kitchenette. Just perfect for relaxing and falling asleep to the sound of the waves. Bed was so comfortable, they even have a pillow menu! I almost didn't need to leave the room, the balcony had chairs to watch the beautiful coast. Very convienent to a grocery store and lots of dining options. You even get a discount at many of the local businesses when you show your room card.
I could go on and on, I will definitely plan a 5-7 night stay this year.
"sweeping panoramic views"
Trip Advisor - December 24, 2010when we first pulled up i was a little nervous because the front of the hotel has no curb appeal whatsoever. But we were given a suite with ocean views and as soon as we walked in it took my breath away. the room has a boutique feel to it- nicely decorated but its the ocean view that takes center stage. (if i didn't have an ocean facing room i wouldn't recommend this hotel). when you are laying in bed with the shades open you feel like your on a cruise because all you see is ocean around you. my kids loved the beach as well as the pool. we all loved sitting on the balcony watching the sunset. it was overall a great stay.
"Wish I could have stayed longer"
November 15, 2010It's been over a year since staying at the Pacific Edge. Upon my return it was great to see the fresh colors, new pool furniture, and deck. The new valet parking added convenience and it was great to have the food and beverage option of the Beach House.
What hasn't changed are the incredible location, smiles, can-do attitude, and the instant feeling of being relaxed from the moment we arrived.
We stayed in the building next to the lobby. We had a glimpse of the Pacific Ocean which was nice but there was no need to sit in our rooms. The beach is right there! With perfect weather, we arranged for Paddle Board lessons through Costa Azul. The shop is right next door to the hotel and Rod the owner took great care in teaching my sons and me.
We also had a chance to enjoy many of our favorite eateries ... Taco Loco across the street is inexpensive and quick. The Penguin Cafe has the best banana pancakes in town and Salernos had a delicious Chicken Parmesan. We also sneaked in a snack at Scandia Bakery while perusing the galleries and shops on Forest
I wish this beach vacation would have lasted longer ... we'll just have to go back to the Pacific Edge again soon.
